Difference in CBD Oil Strengths: What CBD Strength Should You Take?

HempFusion Staff August 20, 2021

There are thousands of people using CBD every day for a variety of reasons, and there are a lot of CBD manufacturers who offer products in different strengths. For those new to CBD, this can quickly become confusing and overwhelming.

What are the different CBD oil strengths? How are they determined? And which should you take to help with your symptoms?

In this article, we will cover:

– CBD Labels 101: Everything you need to know
– Differences in CBD oils such as full spectrum vs broad spectrum
– What CBD strength is best for you
– Whether CBD consumption method changes CBD effects
– Tips to buying the best CBD oils and CBD capsules

Let’s get to it!

CBD Labels 101: Explaining Everything You Need to Know

When looking at a CBD product, it’s important to know that the amount listed on the container may refer to the amount of CBD in the entire package unless it says “per serving” after it. This is why it’s important to look at the serving size to know the amount of CBD in each serving.

For example, in our 1,500 mg bottle of organic CBD oil, there are 50 mg of CBD per serving. Similarly, in our 600 mg bottle of CBD capsules, there are 20 mg of CBD per capsule.

Is the Bottle Referring to Milligrams of CBD or Hemp Extract?

This is another place where it’s critical to read the labels. If a formula refers to an amount of CBD, then yes, that should refer to the amount of measured CBD in each serving size, and this should be backed up by batch reports available on their site. (You can see our batch reports here.)

Here is an example of what this looks like for a few of our CBD oil tincture formulas:

HempFusion Product CBD in Entire Bottle CBD per Serving
10 mg CBD Oil Tincture
(30 servings / bottle)
300 mg 10 mg
20 mg CBD Oil Tincture
(30 servings / bottle)
600 mg 20 mg
30 mg CBD Oil Tincture
(30 servings / bottle)
900 mg 30 mg
50 mg CBD Oil Tincture
(30 servings / bottle)
1500 mg 50 mg

When a label refers to hemp extract more broadly, it should still be able to note the CBD strength.

Hemp extracts labeled broad-spectrum, like the oils and formulas we have here at HempFusion, tend to be our preference, as they also contain a bevy of other beneficial cannabinoids, terpenes and omegas.

At HempFusion, preserving these impressive compounds is what drove us to create one of the most cutting-edge extraction methods around, allowing us to extract the incredible oils of the hemp plant while preserving as much of CBD’s “entourage” as possible.

You’ll Find CBD in One of Three Forms:

CBD isolate: This is simply isolated CBD, with none of the other compounds found naturally in the hemp plant.

Full-Spectrum: Full-spectrum CBD is hemp extract that includes the full spectrum of cannabinoids, including up to .3% THC.

Broad-Spectrum: Broad-spectrum CBD is hemp extract that includes the full spectrum of incredible cannabinoids and terpenes, but without the THC (testing below .01%).

This is our preferred form here at HempFusion, because we love how the rich, organically-produced CBD oil maintains the array of compounds that contribute to the Entourage Effect.

As always, when choosing your CBD oil or capsules, scrutinize the labels to make sure you have the full picture of what you’re taking.

CBD Oil Strength: How Much CBD Should You Take?

As with many supplements, there really isn’t a “one size fits all” answer to this question.

“More” isn’t always better, however, depending on your unique story and biological make up, “less” may not be either. Generally speaking, our CBD support capsules are a great place to start, as they are formulated to offer targeted support at serving sizes that are safe for adults.

The best advice is to always start with the suggested serving size. For those looking to explore more custom serving sizes, such as our CBD oil tincture formulas, the best thing to do is to consult with a trusted physician to receive guidance.

As the cannabis industry grows, researchers will likely conduct more studies on how much CBD oil you should take. It’s crucial that more research is conducted so that we can not only more accurately define what CBD does, but also the ideal potency and the amount we should ingest in order to properly support our endocannabinoid system.

Find What CBD Strength that is Best For You

Between somewhat confusing labels and different serving sizes, it can be a full-time job just determining which CBD is right for you.

Of course, we have you covered if you’re looking to better understand the age-old question, what is the best CBD for me?

It’s important to always talk to your doctor before using CBD products, especially if you have symptoms of a serious mental or physical health condition. CBD could potentially worsen symptoms, increase side effects, or interact with other medications.

Tips to Buying Strong CBD Oil: What to Look for

As more CBD companies begin to put their products on the market, it’s important to ensure you use high-quality products from a reliable company.

How can you tell if CBD oil is high-quality?

A few ways to do this is by looking at the CBD company’s extraction method, sourcing, lab results or batch reports to make sure they are using quality materials.

So, what makes HempFusion CBD products different from others on the market?

First, it’s the materials we start with.

We developed a Whole Food Hemp Complex from European heirloom cultivars boasting a robust profile of never-isolated cannabinoids with high ratios of minor cannabinoids and polyphenols compared to other common extracts. No matter the CBD oil strength or differences in CBD, here are two ways we really stand out from other brands:

Best Extraction Method: Extracted Using CO2

HempFusion is a trusted manufacturer of high quality CBD products for a reason:our process! When it comes to our farming practices, oil extraction method, manufacturing and testing and validation, no other company compares. Learn more about our process here.

Our CBD products feature terpenes, fatty acids, and even cannaflavins. It’s our belief that this is among the least refined hemp extracts offered anywhere today. In addition to our organically product hemp extract, we also create a true hemp fusion by adding powerful botanicas in order to provide an array of health and wellness benefits.

CO2 is a safe solvent to extract desired compounds. This ensures the extract is safe and free from additives and residues. At HempFusion, we use a unique CO2 extraction process that helps protect each and every component and delivers a wide array of cannabinoids.

Testing Materials and Offering Third Party Lab Results

We test quality at every stage, from soil to oil. This is so important due to the hemp plant’s tendency to absorb toxins from its soil. And once we organically produce our wholefood hemp extract, we use this same trusted CBD oil in every formula we sell. Best of all, we offer the results of each third-party test right online.

Before purchasing CBD products, ensure the product has been verified from a third-party lab or facility. Companies with nothing to hide, and those with high trust factors, will make results public knowledge.

Test results will show the levels of CBD and THC and include a heavy metals analysis. You can find these results on the bottle, packaging, an insert, or, like we mentioned in our case, on the product’s website.
